In Sufi perspective, the kingdom of the universe is the world of good and grace, and wherever there is good, there is suitability and proportion. Sema represents the moving and whirling Universe. Sufis stress on the importance of “Dhikr” in various forms of prayer. Music, Song, and Movement are essential for Sufis as religious aids. It often includes singing, playing instruments, recitation of poetry and dhikr (prayers), wearing symbolic attire, and other rituals. Sema or Sama is a ritual dance performed by Mevlavi or Mowlawiyeh Sufi order (founded by Rumi) as a means of meditating on God through focusing on melodies and dancing.
